Tsala
Over a decade on the farm
Landmeterskop has welcomed families to this Overberg farm for years. The four cottages, animal rounds, dam days and wide farm skies remain the heart of the stay.
Landmeterskop Farm Cottages now sits on Rauthin Estate — the wider farm and the home of future food, produce and countryside projects. The cottages remain Landmeterskop; Rauthin is the estate around them.
Guests still book Duck Pond, Karakul, Merino and Dormer through Landmeterskop, with the same self-catering freedom, animals, fires, a hot tub at every cottage, and room for children to roam.
The land here has a long story. It was once part of the much larger original Papiesvlei — the old "Paapjes Valley" — farmed and lived on long before any cottage took in its first guest.
In time the farm took on the name Landmeterskop and a life as a working sheep farm in the Cape Overberg, drawing people who fell for the same things every time: the natural beauty of the area, the peacefulness, the water, and the grazing land that the Overberg light seems made for.
That history continues through Landmeterskop Farm Cottages, on Rauthin Estate — the same valley, water and wide skies, cared for for the families who find it now.

The farm sits about 200 km from Cape Town and 22 km out of Stanford on the road to Elim — a working farm of meadows, one swimming dam and fynbos-covered hills in the heart of the Cape Overberg.
Stanford is a small, walkable Overberg village with restaurants, cafés, a Saturday market and river walks. Hermanus and the coast are within easy day-trip reach of the farm.
Landmeterskop Farm Cottages is where guests book and stay: Duck Pond, Karakul, Merino and Dormer, with the farm experiences around them.
Rauthin Estate is the wider farm around the cottages and the name under which future farm produce, food and countryside projects may grow.
The established cottage names and the heart of the stay remain: self-catering freedom, animal rounds, dam days and Overberg space. We are improving the details around them.

Check availabilityBeyond the lambs, ducks and farm mornings, Landmeterskop runs on the care of the people who have looked after this farm for more than ten years. They are the quiet rhythm behind everything — keeping the cottages warm and the water running, feeding the lambs at first light, and making the place feel like home.
