The farm was initially part of the much larger original Papiesvlei — the old "Paapjes Valley" — which had belonged to the Van Dyk family for generations.
In time the land took on the name Landmeterskop and a life as a working sheep farm in the Cape Overberg, drawing people who fell for the same things every time: the natural beauty of the area, the peacefulness, the abundance of water, and soil well-suited to grazing sheep.
It was love at first sight for those who found it — the natural beauty of the area, the peacefulness, the abundance of water, and grazing land that the Overberg light seems made for.
Today Landmeterskop welcomes guests to that same calm: tastefully decorated cottages, wide verandahs, farm dams for swimming, walks through the pastures, and skies full of stars after dark.
Three cottages and the Duck Pond Room, each with its own verandah and views over the farmlands and mountain.
